The journey
The climb into Kodaikanal is a genuine mountain road with something like forty hairpins, and it is not a drive to take on a whim after a long-haul flight. We use it as an argument for booking a driver rather than self-driving. Temperatures at the top run fifteen degrees below the plains; guests arriving from the Gulf are frequently underdressed and we carry blankets on this route as standard.

- Pack a layer — Kodaikanal is markedly colder than Trichy.
- Not recommended immediately after a red-eye; consider a night in Trichy first.
